TRB Webinar: Using Connected Vehicle Telematics to Improve Road Maintenance Efficiency

The Transportation Research Board (TRB) will hold a webinar on the use of telematics in connected vehicles to improve operational efficiency in road maintenance for state highway departments.

The webinar will cover the link between connected vehicles and maintenance vehicles; what is meant by “connected vehicles”; connected vehicles and road weather management; connected vehicles and work zone and performance management; and the use of GPS tracking systems to streamline fleet management and accountability.

There will be a focus on the year-round work done by the Iowa Department of Transportation. Panelists include:

  • Gabe Guevara, U.S. Federal Highway Administration;
  • Bob Younie, Iowa Department of Transportation;
  • Craig Bargfrede, Iowa Department of Transportation;
  • John Hart, Iowa Department of Transportation;
  • Danny Keene, Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department.

Jeff Holabaugh of Dye Management Group will moderate the discussion.

Participants must register in advance of the webinar, and there is no fee for employees of TRB Sponsors or TRB Sustaining Affiliates who register using their work email address. The following are eligible to receive complimentary registration:

  • TRB and National Academies employees;
  • Chairs of TRB standing committees, sections, or groups;
  • CRP panel members who were involved with developing the report or project that is the subject of the webinar;

  • Employees of tribal governments; and

There is a fee for non-TRB Sponsor or non-TRB Sustaining Affiliate employees.
