Nvidia Rise Cushions D20 Drop

Nvidia (NVDA) is easily the best performing stock in the Driverless Transportation Stock Index (D20) over the last 12 months. Its 124 percent rise since last August has crushed its closest D20 competitor, BYD Company (BYDDY) and its stock that has risen a meager (!) 45 percent in the same period.

Nvidia’s string of successful product launches was capped off by its recent gaming graphics processor, GeForce GTX 1080, where reports are demand exceeds the supply. That helped push Nvidia’s stock price last week up 9 percent to over $50. Despite this Nvidia could not put the D20 in the black last week. Losers outnumbered gainers 11 to nine in the index, and the D20 fell 0.2 percent.

Stocks driving the D20 down included Renesas Electric (TYO:6723), with its 10.3 percent drop to ¥520, and TomTom (TOM2), which lost 7 percent and ended the week at €6.44.
