D20: Renesas, Delphi Only Bright Spots Among Broad-Based Market Losses

Drops of 1.5 percent for the Dow and 1.9 percent for S&P 500 set the table for the Driverless Transportation Weekly Stock Index’s (D20) 2.5-percent loss this week.

Eighteen price losers with only two prices gainers doomed the D20 to lose 3.99 points and finish at 154.46.

Delphi (DLPH) was one of only two bright spots for the D20 this week.  Its stock price rose from $64.71 to $66.76 for an increase of 3.2 percent. Delphi reported better than expected third quarter earnings and improved its outlook for the balance of its fiscal year.

Renesas Electronics Corporation (TYO:6732) was the other bright spot.  Its price on the Tokyo exchange shot up 10.6 percent on news that it has filed the necessary paperwork with the U.S. government to further its previously announced acquisition of Intersil for $3.22 billion.
