Delphi’s Coast-To-Coast Autonomous Trip Brightens Dull D20 Index

The Driverless Transportation D20 Stock Index was down slightly this week, sliding 3.91 points or 0.3 percent to end at 139.169. In a week where the Dow Jones Industrial Index moved up a mere 0.3 percent, losers on the D20 Index outnumbered gainers 13 to seven. The two big guns of the D20 Index, Google (GOOG) and Tesla (TSLA) nearly offset each other by being the absolute gainer and loser of the week. Google lost $12.81, or 2.3 percent, to end the week at $535.53, while Tesla gained an even $6 or 3.2 percent to finish at an even $191.00.
The D20 Index percentage loser this week was Blackberry (BBRY). Falling revenues disappointed the market pushing BBRY down 4.4 percent, from $9.46 to $9.04. The D20 Index percentage gainer this week was BYD Company (BYDDY). Returning to price levels not seen since BYD swiftly fell in late November 2014, BYDDY rose an incredible 23 percent from $9.51 to $11.70.
Another bright spot in the D20 Index this week was the auto parts maker, Delphi Automotive (DLPH). It announced this week the completion of its 3,400 mile trip from San Francisco to New York City with 99 percent of those miles covered in fully autonomous mode. The stock rose $3.69, or 4.8 percent, to end the week at $81.18.
