GETTING TOO MANY E-MAILS FROM US?

This addressed a period when subscribers were getting too many e-mails. When the Driverless Transportation website was revamped, subscriber notifications changed along with it. The new version of the site had two types of subscriptions.

  1. Mile Marker Newsletter - The Mile Marker highlighted what was happening in the world of Driverless Transportation, sent no more than once per week.
  2. Everything Subscriber - This subscription sent an e-mail every time something new was posted to the site — a separate list from the Mile Marker, and one that could arrive several times a day.

Anyone viewing this as an e-mail was on the Everything Subscriber list by default, with an unsubscribe link at the bottom of each message for those who wanted fewer e-mails.

The first Mile Marker newsletter went out that Tuesday to anyone already subscribed.

The Everything list required subscribers to unsubscribe themselves — it could not be done for them.

The redundancy was a known side effect of the transition at the time.
